My name is Pearl Spurlock and I am a third-year undergraduate photojournalism student here at Ohio University. I am also a studio art major and the secretary here at NPPA.
This past summer, I interned for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources as a photography intern for the historical resources department. I had a really cool experience and got to travel all over Ohio visiting our state parks. I spent lots of time photographing visitors enjoying the parks and the natural features the parks had to offer. I enjoyed exploring nature photography and learning about Ohio's rich history.
My favorite thing I got to do was pitch a social media campaign to the agency called Portraits of Stewardship. The concept was to interview and photograph portraits and candids of various ODNR employees, including naturalists, officers, administrators, and more. It was amazing getting to know them and learn about their incredible work.
